Blue Dragon: Disc 1 FTW (10 hrs)

Posted in Progress, Xbox 360 on March 29, 2009 by joshhest

In this age of Blu-ray and 1 terabyte harddrives (for $100!), I somehow got stuck with a game that has 3 (count em’!) discs.  In all fairness, Lost Odyssey has 4, and I plan on slugging it out with that one too.

I forgot how much I actually liked switching discs–that moment of brief triumph when the loading screen finally makes its static appearance.  Check the jump for more updates / spoilers (and possibly some Marumaro insults as well). Continue reading

GDC 09: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks trailer

Its all over the internet now!  New screenshots and (most importantly) the trailer  of the recently announced Zelda game for the DS, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.  Much to my approval, this new Zelda game will keep the amazing cel-shaded graphics of Wind Waker and the gameplay of Phantom Hourglass.

But I know why you are here….check out the trailer and a couple of screenshots (courtesy of Destructoid) after the jump!

Look forward to screenshots and videos of the above as soon as I can get my hands on them (and am not at lab!)

GDC 09: OnLive, a gaming service for your PC

Posted in AMAZING with tags on March 24, 2009 by drtactix

GDC is just beginning and already the news coming out of it is quite intriguing.  Spotted on IGN’s GDC coverage is the preview of OnLive, an on-demand videogame service for your PC.  If OnLive has their way, you won’t need to purchase consoles any more!

The idea behind OnLive is that, if you have a computer screen and a broadband connection, you can access games that are stored online for you to play whenever you’d like (grant it you purchase or rent them of course).  But what about PC specs, you ask?  That’s where OnLive offers something new….all of the games will be stored on the server side of things, which will basically allow you to play graphic intensive games such as Crysis, regardless of your own personal PC power.

Only time will tell how effective this may be, and that time may be sooner than we think.  OnLive plans to have an invitational beta through the summer with a planned launch of around winter 2009.  Check out the trailer below for what the interface looks like, and read the IGN article to find out lots more about this possibly revolutionary service.

New Punch-Out Trailer Released

Posted in wii with tags , on March 24, 2009 by drtactix

I know when I heard that Nintendo was remaking Punch-Out, I was a little hesitant….however this new trailer gives me some hope.  Forgetting the cheasy music of the trailer, the graphics and gameplay seem to keep the feel of the original Punch-Out, which is, in my opinion, a very good thing.

Now my biggest concern will probably be the controls, so here’s hoping that turns out ok!

Left 4 Dead Survival DLC coming April 21

Posted in Uncategorized on March 23, 2009 by mornaur

Although I haven’t played L4D in quite awhile, due to the slew of 360 games I just bought for myself, there’s no better reason to get back into it than the free DLC Valve is releasing in late April. The release of the remaining two Versus maps and the new Survival mode should offer new excitement. I am especially looking forward to trying out Survival mode, as I heard it is way more hectic than Versus. Roughly 10-minute matches than you can play over and over means you can play for as little or as much time as you want, and still get something out of it.

Unfortunately, it seems all the rest of you play the 360 version of the game, so you guys pretty much suck. If you all are planning to play Survival when the DLC is released, I might consider renting L4D for the 360 again to play with you all.
